Pacman to disobey ‘Mommy D’ once again

FOR the nth time, Dionisia Pacquiao, or "Mommy D" to the millions of Manny Pacquiao fans, has pleaded his son to stop fighting.

But Manny would have to defy his mother once again as Top Rank has already arranged his next fight for November this year.

In a radio interview from General Santos City after his son defeated Sugar Shane Mosley via unanimous decision, Mommy D said Manny's best "Mother's Day" gift for her is his retirement from boxing.

Draft affected by NBA labor unrest

PLENTY of college players have declared for the June 13 NBA draft, but some have left the door open to return to college by not agreeing to terms with an agent. This week, Kentucky's Brandon Knight and Terrence Jones did just this.

Sports Illustrated reports that the reluctance to sign with an agent may be because of the rocky labor situation in the NBA.

NBA rookies don't generally get paid until the middle of November and agents sometimes lend them money to get through till their first big pay...

D-League to fill PBL void

PHILIPPINE Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner Chito Salud expects the D-League could ably fill in the void left by the now-defunct Philippine Basketball League (PBL).
